Marinara Sauce: When Qc met Italia

Dear reader,

Yesterday night, I didn’t feel like cooking something complicated. I had bought gnocchi at Adonis – 1,39$ per pack last Thursday along with Pastene ground tomato, so I decided to make them. There is nothing simpler than pasta topped with homemade marinara sauce and freshly grated Parmigiano. I usually make the one hour basic marinara sauce from Giada but yesterday we came home late. I had my ears pieced again! So, I decided to try Giada`s Quick Marinara Sauce which takes about 20 minutes. It was good, but not as good as the one hour basic marinara sauce. You can find both recipes below, so you can judge on your own.
Also, to give more taste to the gnocchi, I sautéed them in margarine and a teaspoon of dry thyme. mmmiammy!

When Quebec met Italy….

Eating gnocchi will always bring memories of Mr. P’s Nonna Maria Falcone. She uses to make them by hand and served them with her homemade tomato sauce. She made them for her grandson because she knew he could eat it. Each time, we returned home with a ton of her gnocchi (aka a week of having them for lunch). I will always remember the first time we went to eat at his grandparents’ house in Montreal-North. I’ve been taught that when you go eat at someone else’s place, you eat everything in your plate, and if you can, you take a second serving to show that you ate well. But when your name is Maria you expect that you will take at least 2 servings of every service.
